Herbert Addo believes the return of Sammy Adjei will provide added impetus when Ghana attempt to win for the first time the African Nations Championship - CHAN.
The veteran goalkeeper is the most experienced player in the squad and Addo is counting on the player who has been fantastic in the league this season.
Sammy Adjei returned to the national team in November 2010, after having resigned from the senior side just after the 2008 African Nations Cup.
However, he now stands the chance of keeping the post for the local Black Stars at the second edition of competition designed by CAF for only home-based players of its member countries.
The Ghana coach is confident that, the goalkeeper's return to form would propel him to the top with the local Black Stars kicking off their campaign in group B against South Africa, Zimbabwe and Niger for the tournament which starts on February 4.
“A player sometimes loses his way and Sammy had but this season he decided to change and made a conscious decision to work hard and with the experience he has, it has worked wonders for him and he has been top class. We feel that if he continues this form, we will have him back in the reckoning or the A team,” the Ghanaian coach said.
Ghana's team for next month CHAN in Sudan would today continue with their preparations with a friendly against Dream Talent Academy at the City Stadium in Kenya.
