Manchester City look set to offload Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor during the transfer window and, according to Marca, Real Madrid will make their move for the forward.
The Spanish publication declare that Jose Mourinho's side will sign Adebayor initially on loan until the end of the season before making the deal a permanent one.
The former Arsenal hitman has an uneasy relationship with current City boss Roberto Mancini and has only featured in a handful of games this season, with the likes of Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli securing the lone striker role in rotation, and Edin Dzeko due to complete a big money move from Wolfsburg.
Mancini may be eager to usher Adebayor - who has also been linked with a temporary move to Liverpool - out of the squad after a bust-up with team-mate Kolo Toure before one of their biggest matches of the season at the Emirates. The news that Gonzalo Higuain will need surgery on a herniated disc means a loan deal to assess Adebayor's adaptability to the Spanish game will give Mourinho cover for now, and an option to add the striker on a permanent deal in the summer.
