Felix Nyarko Antwi, Mfantseman West Constituency Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said that although the NPP government has performed creditably to justify its return to power in 2008, power could elude them if the party's foot soldiers are not taken good care of.
He said the good performance of President Kufuor's administration alone could not return the party to power in 2008 general elections.
"The greatest challenge facing our return to the Castle in 2008 is not the might of the party, but how to handle our foot soldiers who feel we have dumped them after the 2004 elections," he noted.
He cautioned members against complacency and appealed to the leadership of the party to take immediate measures to address the problems of the foot soldiers.
Mr Nyarko-Antwi appealed to aspirants to become the party's flag bearer to conduct their activities with decency and decorum to avoid creating divisions within the party.
He called for hard work by all the party's activists to make victory a forgone conclusion.
