The association of business executives (abe) has celebrated its 50th anniversary on Saturday with a call on young people to aspire to be their own bosses instead of being content with working for others.

The occasion's theme was "Equipping Graduates To Be Employable; The Role of Professional Bodies."

In attendance were alumni, facilitators, and students, as well as some global abe leadership.

As part of the celebration, several facilitators and instructors were honored for their significant contributions to the school's development. Additionally, several students were recognized for their handiwork.

Head of E-banking Operations at Universal Merchant Bank (UMB), Dr. Myles C. Hagan, addressed students and faculty members and stated that today's youth are always looking for executive (office) jobs that will make them comfortable, believing that such jobs are the only way to be successful in life when they can equally nurture their talents and learn new skills to become successful.

“With the requisite skills abe offers to students, young people can nurture their talents and start up their own businesses instead of waiting for job opportunities,” he said.

He indicated that Ghana's economy can be robust if young people develop their talents and abilities to become employers rather than employees.

Dr. Myles Hagan advised the youth to up their game by turning their aspirations into businesses.

“It’s time the youth started making their dreams of becoming entrepreneurs a reality instead of feeling comfortable working under someone,” he added.

Isaac Yeboah, the Business Development Manager at "abe" stated that their institution provides the youth with opportunities and prepare them for the job market.

According to him, their credentials have been combined with adaptability, so pupils at abe are trained to be adaptable in the job market.

“We want to bridge the gap between unemployment in the country, so we train our students with the requisite skills to be ready for the job market,” he said.

He added that abe offers professional Diplomas in Business Management, Human Resources and Marketing.

These officially recognised qualifications are designed to give graduates the most dynamic and up to date skill set on the market and welcome universities and colleges to subscribe to Abe programmes.
