Ghana’s amputee team, the Black Challenge, continued their form at the ongoing Africa Amputee Cup of Nations in Cairo, Egypt, with a resounding 5-0 victory over Algeria.
Following their emphatic 4-0 win over Gambia in the opening game, the back-to-back African champions solidified their position at the top of Group C with six points and a goal difference of nine.
Yusif Yahaya opened the scoring just seven minutes into the match. The team's momentum continued as Hamza Mohammed doubled the lead only three minutes later.
Mubarik Mohammed added a brace, bringing his total to four goals in two games after scoring twice against Gambia. Tube Hayfura sealed the victory with the fifth goal.
Coach Richard Obeng’s team aim to maintain their unbeaten run and secure a place in the knockout stages as they prepare for their final group game against Kenya on Tuesday, May 21, at the Petrol Sports Stadium in Cairo.
The defending champions are not only eyeing the coveted trophy but also aiming to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
This year’s AAFCON features teams from Egypt, Nigeria, Burundi, Liberia, Morocco, Uganda, Ghana, Kenya, Gambia, Algeria, Angola, Tanzania, and Sierra Leone.
