Ghana’s Amputee team, the Black Challenge, kickstarted their 2024 African Amputee Cup of Nations (AAFCON) campaign with an impressive performance against Gambia.
Ghana claimed a 4-0 win over their opponents on Sunday in Cairo, Egypt.
Goals from Hamza Mohammed, Yussif Yahaya, and two from Mubarak Mohammed proved enough for the Black Challenge to grab all the 3 points and secure their first win in the competition.
The Black Challenge are winners of the last two editions of the competition and are chasing a third straight title.
Ghana will face Algeria and Kenya in their other group games with the first being the North African side, on May 20, 2024, before they battle it out in their last group stage match on May 21, 2024, against Kenya at Petrol Sports Stadium in Cairo.
The two-time AAFCON are eyeing the coveted trophy as well as qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
