The 2015 Ghana Music Awards ‘Artiste of the Year’, Stonebwoy and his team spent ¢50,000 worth of airtime at a voting party to secure a win for the coveted ‘Artiste of the Year’ award again.
The reigning reggae dancehall artiste of the year has been nominated in six categories this year namely; ‘Reggae Dancehall Song of the Year’, ‘Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year’, ‘Artiste of the Year’, ‘Best Collaboration, Hiplife Song of the Year’ and the ‘Most Popular Song of the Year’.
According to Stonebwoy, the voting party which is the first of its kind, was an opportunity for him to be innovative and also invest in his own career.
Among the scores of selected fans who showed up for the voting party inside the One Corner Gardens at Kokomlemle, were media personalities including Adom FM’s Papa Bills, George Britton and Doctor Cann. Others are Hitz FM’s Naa Adjeley Doku, Nii Atakora Mensah, Stip of Solid Multimedia, Papa Loggy and gospel musician, Call Me Nazareth.
Stonebwoy in an interview with JoyNews stated that “if hard work is rewarded, I believe that a lot of people who are emulating or looking up to me will also know that hard work is the way and just not anything to get a certain award and the reward for hard work is more work… I support hard work and proper fame and not celebrating mediocrity.”
