EXPECT the unexpected as a myriad of performers from around the world descend on Accra to join in what organizers have described as ‘the biggest formal event in the celebration of Ghana’s Golden jubilee.
Marking the nation’s reinvention to forge ahead as one people with a common destiny, it’s the ‘Ghana As One Gala Night’, a night sure to go down as the principal event during the 50th anniversary celebrations.
Hot on the line are the Whispers, the world acclaimed American group who will join forces with celebrated local performers like A.B Crentsil, Paapa Yankson, Jewel Ackah and Pat Thomas.
Taking place at the Independence Square on Saturday March 10, the ‘Ghana As One’ event will utilize most of the square, building an arena for dining and dancing, with a huge stage and catwalk for the various performances and fashion display lined up for the programme.
Endorsed by the Ghana @ 50 Secretariat, it is an initiative of Agoo Magazine boss, Kojo Bonsu, and is being organised in alliance with super hits radio, Joy FM, with a committee of experienced event organisers drawn together to produce a fitting celebration that will be the sparkle of the jubilee festivities.
With less than 50 days to go before the event, Kojo Bonsu is confident that the night will be one of great excitement. “We’ve, been working on this project since the middle of last year.
The committee members are experts in their various fields and have brought a lot of their experience to bear on the event. We look set to have a great occasion, all things being equal.”
A secretariat from where tickets to the gala night are on sale has been opened inside the Accra Visitor Centre on Ring. Road Central, next to Bus Stop Restaurant.
Originally set as a lunch event, ‘Ghana As One’, a presentation of Guinness in association Areeba, GTP and Maggi, is now being planned as a dinner dance with lots of performances which will make it a big formal gala affair.
