A 20-year-old carpenter, Mawuyram Atitsogbe from Akplamanu in the Hohoe District, is in police custody for using specimen 10 Ghana cedis to buy Frytol cooking oil from a supermarket at Hohoe.
Mr. Daniel Ablodey, Hohoe District Police Commander, told the GNA that a 13-year-old girl from whom Atitsogbe bought the oil expressed concern over the genuineness of the bill.
The girl engaged the suspect in an argument that drew people to the scene and Atitsogbe was arrested. A search on him revealed specimen bills in GHC 20 and GHC 50 denominations.
