Ransford Rowdy Baidoo, a sales agent was on Monday granted GH¢2,000 bail by a circuit court at Cape Coast for allegedly stealing GH¢170.00 belonging to Kasapa Communication Network.
He pleaded guilty and would reappear on Friday November 9 2007
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo, told the court presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu, that in October last year, the management of Kasapa engaged Baidoo as a sales agent and was given some Kasapa Home-Work and mobile phones and top-up units to sell.
He said Baidoo went to a number of places including Ghana National College, Ghana National Fire Service, Christian Eye Centre, Christ the King Academy and CEDECOM all in Cape Coast, and collected various sums of monies totalling GH¢1,230 (12,300 million cedis) with the promise of providing them with phones.
He alleged that Baidoo also collected GH¢470 (4.7 million cedis) from other customers, and not only failed to supply the items, but also did not pay the money to his employers
Kasapa officials realising that Baidoo had not accounted for the items after the deadline, caused his arrest.
Baidoo pleaded for time to pay the money, but only managed to pay GH¢600 (six million cedis) and absconded until he was spotted at Kasoa on October 12 this year and arrested.
