Mr Frank Kwame Busumtwi, Birim South District Chief Executive, has appealed to members of area councils to mobilize their people to undertake self-help projects.
He said with the increase in population, government would not be in a position to provide communities with all their needs.
Mr Busumtwi said this when he presented two bicycles and a motorbike each to the Akyem Aperade, Akyem Akroso and Akyem Asene/Aboabo Area councils at separate functions.
He commended the councils on their performance so far and urged them to maintain the tempo.
Mr Busumtwi also donated a 29-inch television set to the Methodist Wesleyan Junior High School at Akyem Oda.
He said the donation, which was in appreciation of the hard work of the Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) of the school, was also aimed at enhancing the President's Initiative on Distance Learning Education Programme in the area.
Ms Ophelia Koomson, headmistress of the school, thanked Mr Bosumtwi for the donation.
