The Ghana Gas Company is optimistic of meeting its December deadline despite recent challenges.
Work on the construction of the gas infrastructure facility has stalled for over a few weeks now because of bad weather conditions as well as challenges with paying compensation to communities who will be affected by the construction work.
Chief Executive of the company, Dr. Sipa Yankey however told JOYBUSINESS measures have been put in place to ensure that the project is completed within the next two months.
“…We are hoping to sort of double our efforts to ensure that come December 2012 we would have hit the target and we would have finished the project and at least [the] first gas will be flowing to a thermal plant in Aboadze to fire the plants there…”
“But I’m saying in the event…we are not able to hit December, 2012 and hit January, 2013, that is still a record time for us and for which we all as people of this country should be proud of.”
The 700 million dollar facility gas infrastructure will process gas from the Jubilee Field for power generation. The facility is expected to process about 150 million standard cubic of gas a day.
