2018 Oguaa Fetu Afahye gets MTN support

Telcom giants, MTN has donated GH₵10,000 and other assorted items to the Oguaa Traditional Council towards the celebration of the 2018 Oguaa Fetu Afahye.

The items also include drinks hampers, GH₵1,000 worth of credit and assorted MTN souvenirs.

The donation forms part of the telecom company's resolve to support festivals and other traditional events and ceremonies of national and cultural significance.

According to the Senior Regional Manager for the South-West Business District, Simon Amoh, the presentations and donations have become their inescapable contributions to traditional and cultural institutions to help maintain values and principles that define the  Ghanaian.

"We are proud to be associated with this year's Oguaa Fetu Afahye. It is always a delight to join the Chiefs and people of Oguaa to celebrate the year. We believe in things that promote unity and oneness and we will always strive to support development and peace," he said.

The Senior Regional Manager also pledged the company's support to the Oguaa Traditional Council and other traditional authorities across the country to be their partner for development. He was convinced that through their support the festival would open opportunities for employment creation for the youth during the celebration.

"Festivals such as the Oguaa Fetu Afahye bring many people together. The promotion of music, sports and the showcasing of the tourism potentials in this area is an icing on the cake.

He thanked the paramount Chief of Oguaa Traditional Area, Osaberima Kwesi Atta II for his endorsement during the inauguration of the MTN initial public offer (IPO). He also congratulated the Afahye planning committee for the choice of theme for this year's celebration.

Chairman of the 2018 Oguaa Fetu Afahye planning committee, Perry Mensah, was full of praise for the management of MTN for the gesture done the traditional Council. He particularly thanked them for the company's support over the years.

The theme of the 2018 festival is “Restoration of our heritage: A key to tourism and development."
