The 25 burning questions of a Rev. Father

“Could someone help me get answers to the following burning questions?”, Ask Rev Fr. Ignatius Amponsah. 1. In view of Mr. Asiedu Nkatia’s response to the position of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana on the creation of the Forty five (45) new constituencies, is Mr. Asiedu Nkatia trying to promote separation of the word of God from our constitution? Is he trying to suggest that those who are experts in the word of God should have nothing to do with the constitution and that, politicians and experts in our constitution should have nothing to do with the word of God? 2. Is it beneficial for human beings to cut themselves off from their source of life or God? Are we intentionally losing sight of what we are told in John 6:63-64? 3. As a nation, are we doing the right thing in swearing with the word of God, when we have been instructed by the word of God not to swear? “Above all, brothers, do not swear either by heaven or by earth, or make a habit of swearing. Let your yes be yes and your no be no, lest you become liable for judgment’’ (James 5:12). You have also heard that people were told in the past: Do not break your oath; an oath sworn to the Lord must be kept. But I tell you this: do not take an oath for any promise. Do not swear by the heavens, for they are God’s throne, nor by the earth, because it is His foot stool, nor by Jerusalem because it is the city of the Great King. Do not even swear by your head, because you cannot make a single hair white or black. Say yes when you mean yes and say no when you mean no. Anything else you say comes from the devil, (Mathew 5:33). 4. In view of the confusion surrounding the creation of the forty-five (45) new constituencies, who among us, if he/she has the intention to cultivate corn in a virgin forest, will wait until the rains begin before he/she prepares the land for sowing? Will he/she not prepare the land at least 3 months ahead of the rains? If the farmer waits until the rains begin, will he/she be able to prepare adequately, the said land when the rains begin? If he/she is unable to prepare adequately the land for sowing, should he/she blame anybody? Should he/she not blame himself/herself? 5. In view of Mr. Twum Boafo’s resignation letter to the leadership of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, is Mr. Twum Boafo trying to suggest to us that the apology rendered by the Public Relations Officer in question, is not enough and that it is just impossible for Mr. Twum Boafo to continue to remain in his Church and help her to correct whatever has made him “sick” in his Church? 6. In the Matter of the partisan debate on the “free” Senior High School and the confusion the said debate has generated in Ghana, apart from our politicians, who are the right people to give Ghanaians the true and genuine total cost of “free” SHS per term? Are the said persons willing to gather courage and come out to give Ghanaians the said cost without fear or favor to help us know which party is right? 7. In the matter of the confusion surrounding religious leaders helping to shape our politics for the good of our nation, is it not necessary to have a national debate on whether or not religious leaders have a role to play in politics and why? 8. If our religious leaders have a role to play in our national politics, could the role or roles be specified in our constitution and why? 9. It is said that the late Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah started Gold refinery in the Western region of Ghana. If this is true, could someone help me know and understand why as a nation, we have failed to continue with the said project? 10. As a nation, are we happy in looking on for many of our raw materials to be carried away so cheaply to foreign countries for the development of the said countries to the detriment of our rapid and holistic development? 11. Since March, 1957, our spiritual, traditional and political leaders have been travelling to the advanced countries. In spite of these travels, as a nation, why are we so incapable of developing our own technology or exporting technology to exploit many of our natural resources put value on them and then sell them to ourselves and other countries in order to stabilize our currency and inflation? 12. It is common knowledge that ever since partisan politics was introduced into our body politics, the threat to our unity and peace gets worse every election year. In view of the said knowledge, will it not be wise on our part to do away with partisan politics and develop a union government that is devoid of all the appendages of partisan politics, a union government that changes every five (5) or more years? 13. In the matter of the Ruling Government not agreeing with the constitution Review Committee that, the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) should be binding on all successive governments and enforceable at the instance of any person or institution, is it necessary for the ruling Government to explain to the people of Ghana, why she disagrees with a recommendation that seeks to promoting stable National Development Planning and doing away with unstable Partisan Development Planning (PDP) which is the main cause of our underdevelopment and the unnecessary and shameful judgment debts that Ghana is confronted with due to partisan politics? 14. If the state is not ready to sponsor the political campaigns of our politicians, and yet we expert them to engage in political campaigns to enable us make a choice, as a nation, where do we expect our politicians to get money to engage in political campaigns in order to get our mandate to run the affairs of our state? 15. When politicians win power through our votings, do we expect them to recoup the money that they used for their political campaigns? 16. As a nation, if we do not have money to give to our politicians to pay for their political campaigns, is it not wise on our part to develop a union government that is devoid of political campaigns that compel our politicians to spend huge sums of money during the political campaign season? 17. As a nation, why is it that in most cases, we wait until workers go on strike before they are given what is due them? 18. As a nation, do we sell our industries and enterprises (that we have established with our sweat and scarce resources) to foreigners to demonstrate that, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was completely wrong in declaring on March 6, 1957 that, the Black man is capable of managing his own affairs when given the opportunity? 19. Can the emergence of deadly lies and character assassination that we have seen and experienced as a nation on our media landscape, be attributed to the repeal of the criminal libel law? 20. As a nation, are we incapable of establishing laws to deter and put “holy fear’’ in those who are bent on taking advantage of freedom of speech to cause much damage to their perceived political enemies? 21. How on earth can we say that imprisoning a person for taking advantage of freedom of speech to engage in deadly and irreparable damage to his or her fellow human being will prevent journalists and media houses from performing their professional roles? Will it not rather put 99% on their toes to be professional in the performance of their roles? 22. What is really preventing Africa from realizing her most important dream of becoming United African States? 23. Are Africans helpless in realizing their desire to become United African States and why? 24. Is it too much of an ambition for Africans to develop a continental language to facilitate the realization of the African dreams, such as: the formation of the United African States, the African personality and identity, and why? 25. It is common knowledge that civilization began in Africa and that Africa abounds in great human and natural resources. In view of this common knowledge, why is Africa having her ‘mouth in the kitchen’ of the white race and gradually becoming a perpetual beggar? Rev.
