Instant justice for alleged armed robber

A member of a gang of five suspected armed robbers who attacked and robbed a fuel station has been lynched at Fodoa in the Kwahu West District of the Eastern Region. The mob also vandalized an Opel Ascona saloon car with registration number GR 7746 J that the alleged robbers used in the operation. The robbers shot and killed one Yaw Obeng who had confronted them at the fuel station. They also took away ¢1.7 million and three mobile phones. The Nkawkaw District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police Christopher Klomegah, said the robbers attacked the three attendants at the fuel station on Tuesday night with guns and locked them up in a room before ransacking the station. He said when people heard of the attack they rushed to the fuel station and attacked the robbers. They killed one of them and the rest fled into the bush. Mr Klomegah said a search party was assisting the Police to arrest the other robbers. In a related development suspected armed robbers broke into the residence of Mrs Gifty Asiedu-Okantah, Mpohor Wassa Easy District Director of Education, on January 18 and stole property valued at five million cedis. The robbery occurred at 1100 hours when Mrs Asiedu-Okantah was at work. A resident in the adjoining bungalow, Mr. E. Kanyagbui, said he heard a loud noise from Mrs Asiedu-Okantah's bungalow and when they went there they found that the door leading into the house had been broken into. He said a report was made to the Daboase Police who were conducting investigations. Mrs Asiedu-Okantah and her family have since moved out of the bungalow to a new neighbourhood. Source GNA
