The Jejeti Health Centre in the Eastern Region has been handicapped by a downpour Thursday evening.
The hospital, based in the Atiwa District of the region, lost equipment, folders, consumables and mattresses to the rains.
Authorities at the hospital tell Joy News they have suspended attending to patients because all of their equipment has been destroyed.
Patients who visited the facility are either referred to Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital or the Enyirisi hospital.
Physician assistant at Jejeti hospital, Napoleon Nakinpaak, who narrated the ordeal to Joy News’ Kofi Siaw, says they have lost all their working apparatus and they pray that help will come soon.
“I received a call from the nurses staying at the nurses’ quarters that the rain is flooding the hospital so I asked them to seek refuge elsewhere until morning,” he said.
He added that by morning when they arrived there was nothing to salvage out of the waters.
“Health insurance claims, drugs medical equipment and everything was washed away. All rooms were also flooded with water,” he said.
Mr Nakinpaak said some residents have come around to help them clean the place but they will need help from higher authorities to resume work.
“We are here and ready to work but the challenge is the things we need to work,” he lamented.
Meanwhile, a National Disaster and Management Organisation (NADMO) team has been deployed to Asunafo, Abomosu, Akobuosu and Anyinam, which are also in the Atiwa District.
