Few days after the Joint Task Force on Operation Restore Order in Borno recovered Improvised Explosive Devices, rifles, ammunition and other dangerous weapons in the house of one of the commanders of the Boko Haram sect in Bullumkuytu area of Maiduguri Metropolis, unknown gunmen, suspected to be Boko Haram sect members, have launched attack on MTN Office in Maiduguri where they set the office ablaze as well as several masts within and around the state capital.
It was gathered that on Wednesday morning, a security man had told residents of a location where one of the masts was destroyed that around midnight, he saw some young men who were armed with guns approach the mast station and set the mast ablaze, while others were standing at strategic locations to guard those carrying out the destruction.
It was further learnt that following the news, the offices of Airtel, Glo and etisalat closed for business as members of staff were said to have fled the premises of the companies.
However, the state Police Commissioner, Yuguda Abdullahi, said he was yet to be briefed on the matter by any of his DPOs or zonal commanders, adding that he would try and get details of what happened and those behind the incident.
