Ecobank Ghana sponsors 12 medical students

Ecobank Ghana has sponsored 12 medical students from across the country to travel abroad for their 2018 medical training exchange programme.

Under this package, four students will travel to Germany, one to Hong Kong, one to Poland, one to Israel, one to the USA and one to the United Kingdom.

At a short ceremony to honour the 12 beneficiaries, Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, Dan Sackey said being financially profitable was not a measure for their success but the extent to which they position the bank as good corporate citizens and give back to the society.

He explained that the health sector was important because it impacted the lives of their employees, employers, the local community and the nation as a whole.

“Ecobank has always focused part of its CSR programmes on bringing about improvements in the delivery of healthcare for all.

In today’s liberal world, stakeholders of progressive organisations demand greater accountability in CSR related investments in making both economic and social capital a key measure by which business performance is judged and positioned as good corporate citizens,” he added.

On his part, president of the University of Ghana Medical School Association who is a beneficiary thanked Ecobank Ghana for remaining committed to enhancing medical education in Ghana by sponsoring them.

“I must state for the record that Ecobank Ghana has been a very good partner with medical students in terms of exchange sponsorship and we know that this is not the last time they are going to show love,” he said.

Over the past 8 years, 100 students from medical institutions have benefitted from this programme.

Each student goes with $1000 from Ecobank, 30% of air tickets from Emirate across board, 50% discount from Satguru for students going to Israel and Shirts from Wooden for all students.
