Standard Chartered was named digital bank of the year at the Ghana Information and Technology Awards (GITTA).

This according to StanChart is an affirmation of the Banks’ leading role in digitisation.

The bank also took away two additional awards including CIO of the year awarded to Sheikh Jobe, Chief Information Officer for Ghana and West Africa and Information Technology team of the year also led by Sheikh Jobe.

Sheikh’s award affirms the impact he has had on the digitisation agenda in Ghana over the past two years providing world-class innovative solutions within the banking ecosystem.

Sheikh was instrumental in developing the National Payments Strategy document which is a blueprint for the development of Ghana’s Payment Strategy Roadmap in line with best practice and emerging trends around the world.

Sheikh is extremely passionate about ensuring cybersecurity even as the industry goes digital.

He played a key role in the Standard Chartered Cyber Security Summit held earlier.

The Summit brought together experts and key stakeholders as regulators, policymakers, FinTechs, and businesses to discuss and share best practice in combating cyber-crime and lead the way in enhancing cybersecurity for digital banking channels with the objective to help formulate the right policies.

This was well received by the industry.

Commenting on the award, Sheikh thanked the bank’s clients for their loyalty and constant feedback aimed at improving the operations of the bank.

He said “there has been a relentless focus on continuously investing and innovating ways of making banking for our clients simple, easy and convenient. This is evident in the numerous achievements recorded so far in the last two years.”

“We will continue to listen and collaborate with our clients particularly in an industry where Corporations and consumers are increasingly adopting and depending on digital technologies to run their businesses and lives,” he added.

These awards affirm the bank’s commitment to delivering easy and convenient banking to clients and lead the way in digitisation in Ghana.

Since 2015 the bank increased investment in digital platforms to meet its client needs at the right scale through an enhanced end-to-end digital offering, with straightforward platforms and best-in-class digital products and services.

The Ghana Information Technology and Telecom Awards is held annually and recognises excellence and innovation in the ICT and telecommunications sector.
