The Nurses and Midwives Council (NMC) has arrested and handed over to the police a 35-year woman who posed as a nurse.
The suspect, Cecilia Aku Dovi, was grabbed after forging a nurse’s certificate to apply for a job at a hospital in Tema.
According to the Registrar of the NMC, Rev. Veronica Darko, Cecelia super imposed her photograph on an original nursing certificate belonging to someone else to apply for the job.
She said the suspect after putting her picture on the certificate also changed the original name and put her name on it.
It was the number on the certificate that gave her up, as it was linked to someone else.
Rev. Darko said it was after the Tema-based hospital submitted the suspect’s certificate to the NMC for verification that it was detected that she was not the real owner of the certificate let alone be a nurse.
After applying for the job, the suspect was given an appointment letter which stated that she was going to be paid GHC 800 a month.
However, luck eluded her when the certificate was brought to the NMC for verification.
Rev. Darko said the suspect had since been handed over to the Tema Community 11 Police for prosecution.
