The youth have been urged to value their lives and avoid taking dangerous illegal routes to travel abroad in search of greener pastures.
Mr Jacob Achulo, Northern Regional Programmes officer in charge of child rights of the Department of Social Welfare gave the advice at a workshop in Tamale on Wednesday.
Mr Achulo also inaugurated the "Anti-illegal route to Europe clubs" in two schools, the Northern School of Business and the Business Secondary School all in the Northern Region.
The workshop, organised by the Youth Action for Development Organisation (YADO) an NGO was to educate the youth on the dangers in illegal migration.
Mr. Achulo told the youth that those who migrate illegally to Europe and other places devalue themselves by accepting to do disgraceful and menial jobs, which they would not have done back home.
He said some of them stood the danger of been drugged and killed and their body organs such as kidneys, liver and hearts removed for sale.
He said young girls especially suffer all manner of indignity with some being forced into prostitution and in some instances being coerced to have sex with animals.
Mr. Achulo urged the youth to take their education seriously so that they could be gainfully employed and live a life of dignity in their own country instead of risking their lives by trying to go to Europe by all means.
Mr. Abdul-Rasheed Awal, Deputy Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) said a Border Patrol Unit had recently been created within the GIS, which would be responsible for patrolling all the entry points into the country.
He said together with other security agents the GIS would maintain the internal security of the country.
