The Daboya Health Centre is to be upgraded to the status of a Polyclinic, to enable it to cater for the health needs of the growing population in the village.
Major Courage Quashigah (Rtd), Minister of Health announced this, when he visited the area to assess the extent of damage caused by the floods that recently hit parts of the Northern Region.
The Daboya River, which is a tributary of the White Volta, has been over-flooded, completely cutting the village from the rest of the region.
Many residents of the village have also had their buildings and farmlands submerged by the floods.
Major Quashigah said Daboya, with a population of over 29, 000 people was likely in the future to get a Hospital to meet the health needs of the people.
The Health Minister presented two motorcycles and 10 bicycles to the health personnel of the Health Centre and promised to give them a pick-up vehicle to enable them reach some of the inaccessibly communities in the area.
He urged the health personnel in the village to assist in the distribution of the relief items to ensure that they reach the right people.
Waspeiwura Mumuni Abani, Paramount Chief of Daboya and the people of the community commended Major Quashigah for his concern for their welfare and thanked him for the assistance.
