The ruling National Democratic Congress (NPP) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) seem to be heading on collision course on several party issues.
The dust is yet to settle on fight over who owns the legal right to the slogan “People Matter, You Matter” and the two parties are stating the same date as the date for their campaign launch.
The NDC claims the slogan was carved from their social democratic credentials while the NPP also claims the slogan has for a year now been the title of its 2012 Manifesto.
Whilst at that, Deputy Local Government Minister, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah speaking on Election Headquarters on Joy FM Friday, said the NDC will be launching its campaign on August 25.
Elvis Afriyie Ankrah’s disclosure is coming barely 24-hours after Chairman of the NPP, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey also disclosed, on the same platform, that his party will launch its campaign on August 25.
Deputy Local Government Minister, however, disclosed that the date is a change from an initial date of July 28. The party, he said, was forced to fall on the new date due to the Ramadan season.
