A video clip on the achievements of Dr Kwame Addo-Kufuor, an aspirant to be the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2008 elections during his over six years tenure as Minister of Defence and Member of Parliament for the Manhyia constituency has been presented to Women Organisers of the party within the Greater Accra Region in Accra.
Speaking to newsmen after the screening of the clip, most of the Women Organisers said they had been convinced that Dr Addo-Kufuor was the most credible and capable aspirant among the host vying for the position and that they had been impressed that the aspiring leader of the NPP could maintain and sustain the unity within the party and move it forward.
They pointed out that projects initiated and executed by Dr Addo-Kufuor spoke volumes about his vision for the future.
The Women Organisers especially mentioned projects in the areas of infrastructure such as sanitation, health, water, accommodation, equipment acquisition and improvement of facilities in the Armed Forces and described them as laudable.
They also identified the provision of toilet and bath facilities for travellers and provision of micro-finance and the various women and children centred programmes in his constituency and said they were in the right direction.
They however stressed the need for him to select a woman running mate if he should get the nod to push the gender and children's agenda to the forefront for solution since they affected more people in the society.
The women said he had convinced them that he was peaceful, disciplined and hardworking and pointed out that his tenure at the Defence Ministry had promoted good military-civilian relations.
The well-attended programme was climaxed with the sing of "Onyame bo shenu abam awie" meaning "God's promise has come true".
Dr Addo-Kufuor thanked the Women Organisers for their support and encouragement and asked them and other delegates to the NPP congress to select him to ensure victory for the party.
