The Parliamentary Select Committee on Local Government, Rural Development and Environment has commended the Amansie West District Chief Executive, Mr Ben Kwakye-Adeefe, and his staff for the meticulous manner they had implemented government policies and programmes.
This has brought about an appreciable level of development in the area.
The commendation was made when the Committee paid a day's visit to the Amansie West District to acquaint themselves with the status of the implementation of decentralized systems and the performance of the assembly.
The committee said it was pleased with the level of implementation of the decentralized systems such as area councils, decentralized agencies, gender parity and good relations between the assembly and other non-decentralised institutions.
Others are poverty-related programmes like the health insurance scheme, capitation grant, school feeding programme and ensuring community involvement in development planning.
The Chairman of the Committee, Mr Isaac Edumadze told stakeholders at a meeting at Manso-Nkwanta that the Amansie West District Assembly had done well despite the poor road network, lack of communication facilities and inadequate staff.
Mr Kwakye-Adeefe appealed to the committee to bring the problems, especially the poor road network to the floor of parliament.
