Bismark Boafo, a medical school dropout who allegedly posed as a heart specialist and a gynaecologist, was on Wednesday remanded into prison custody by a circuit court at Cape Coast.
Boafo, who told the court that he is a former student of the Ghana National College and had spent a year in medical school, pleaded not guilty and is to be re-arraigned on October 8.
The prosecution said last week Wednesday, Mrs Dora Agbedanu, a resident of Ajumako received a telephone call from the accused who introduced himself as a medical specialist who lives in Accra.
The woman told Boafo that her sister, Mrs Victoria Madugu had a heart condition and needed a heart specialist to treat her,Boafo agreed to travel to Ajumako to treat her.
Mrs Madugu accommodated him in her house for five days but his behaviour made Mrs Madugu suspicious and she reported him to the police.
Mrs Madugu later said that Boafo arrived at her home at Ajumako wearing a doctors' coat with a stethoscope hanging around his neck and carrying a bag containing drugs including EFPAC and a thermometer.
She said when Boafo wrote out a prescription for her, the pharmacy shop she took it to could not make it out.
She also lost some money and items from her house when Boafo was there.
