Madam Gwendolyn Sarah Addo, Assembly Woman for Djangmaku Electoral Area at Ningo, has been elected as the new Presiding Member for the Dangme West District.
She beat Mr Tettey Ekpa by 38 votes to 12 in a second round of voting.
Madam Addo, 54, is a Graduate from the University of Liberia and holds a Degree in Sociology.
The two Members of Parliament for the area, Mr Enoch Teye Mensah and Mr David Ansong for Ningo/Prampram and Shai/Osudoku Constituencies respectively witnessed the elections.
In her acceptance speech, Madam Addo thanked her colleagues for their support and promised to work with everybody, including her opponents regardless of their political affiliations.
She appealed to them to let their personal differences and partisanship be a thing of the past, so that collectively they could move together as one family unit to develop the district.
