The Winneba Police Command has started an all out operation to flush out holders of fake drivers licenses within the Winneba district.
The Winneba District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jordan Quaye said this in a statement issued to the drivers Unions in the district at Winneba on Tuesday.
He said all licenses suspected to be fake would be forwarded to the Driver and Vehicles Licenses Authority (DVLA) for verification in order to curb motor accidents caused by unqualified drivers.
The statement signed by ASP Quaye, urged all drivers and riders to take along the original copies of their licenses with them for inspection to avoid embarrassment.
He said those possessing fake licenses out of ignorance would be advised and referred to DVLA for direction, adding that all drivers with physical defects and without special impairment Aid features fitted on their vehicles, would be banned from driving.
"Drivers and driver's mate who are below 18 years of age should desist from driving", adding that, "anyone caught would be made to face the law".
Vehicle owners who give out their vehicles to minors and unlicensed drivers would be arrested as well, he said.
