General Manager for Human Resource and Administration at the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Jane Ohenwa Gyekye, Ltd has advocated for women to press for a higher level of progress within their personal spheres of influence in order to raise the bar for future generations as they celebrate International Women’s day.
Speaking at a symposium organized by the TOR Ladies Association to mark the International Women’s Day, Mrs. Gyekye called for a change in the status quo, demanding that it is time for women to take steps to empower themselves and press forward without complacency to positively inspire change at the workplace and communities.
She indicated that even though the oil industry has traditionally been the preserve of men, the trend is changing with females now playing significant roles to make valuable contributions.
She was optimistic that females at TOR will position themselves well, become assertive and work hard with passion to take up opportunities that exist in the industry.
The International Women’s Day she added is a time of reflection and the beginning of celebrating the unique role of women. She commended the Tema Oil Refinery Ladies Association for their contributions to the company over the years and asked them to continue giving off their best to the growth of the company.
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is #PressforProgress
