The Assemblies of God Church is to establish an insurance company to help promote insurance service among its members and the public.
The National Insurance Commission (NIC) has approved a licence for the church to commence business under the name "Prime Insurance Company".
Reverend William Dontoh, General Superintendent of the church, announced this in an address read on his behalf at the 11th Regional Council Conference of the Eastern Assemblies of God at Bunso on Friday.
He said plans were far advanced to transform the Mid-Ghana Bible College, a pastoral training institution of the church into a full fledged university.
Rev. Dontoh said 2007 being a jubilee year, which biblically meant year of rest and freedom, the church had embarked on some projects that would bring relief to members and announced that the seed money for the Minister's Pension Scheme had been increased.
He pointed out that all the objectives set out by the Church this year, required hard work, commitment and spirit of forgiveness and urged members to honour their obligations.
Rev. Alex Ofori Amankwah, Eastern Regional Superintendent of the church, in a report to the conference, commended the pastors and members of the church for their dedication and hard work last year.
He encouraged them to be focused in their endeavours and remained committed and loyal to the faith of the church to realize their target in the region.
Rev. Amankwah announced that the Food and Drugs Board had granted operational licence to the church for the production of 'Eastern Yogurt' as part of the region's agenda to embark on economic activities and called on the members to patronize the product.
