Abortion rumour against Akufo Addo disproved

Crusading GUIDE investigations have indicated that some unscrupulous individuals are deliberately embarking on politics of deceit and treachery against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) potential Presidential aspirants. This time around, the target is Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo. Already wild rumours are f1ying high in London over Nana Addo's alleged involvement in an abortion with a 16-year-old girl leading to her death. Those spinning the lies have gone on to say that the parents of the lady are ready to bring the matter into the public domain. According to the Crusading Guide, one Alfred Kwame Larbi (alias Oxygen) is in the forefront of the mischief-peddling, claiming on Kasapa FM in London that he had personally seen and spoken to the parents of the dead lady. Alfred Kwame Larbi told the paper that he met a lady at a funeral some two months ago who dropped hints of an aspirant having impregnated her daughter leading to her death as a result of an abortion. He added that a few weeks ago, he heard hints of the same matter in London and therefore decided to investigate it. Alfred Larbi put the unsubstantiated allegation on air, adding that he called Prof, Frimpong Boateng and asked him of the Korle Bu Hospital mortuary attendant's phone number, which the Prof, allegedly gave as 021673033 or 665403. “I checked from the mortuary attendant and then dropped the hints on air, I know Prof. F. Boateng and he knows me very well,” Kwame Larbi said, adding that the name of the mortuary attendant is Mr. Julius Akatsi. He also gave the name of the woman whose daughter had died as Boahemaa with together with her London telephone number. The Crusading GUIDE said its investigations on the claims by Kwame Larbi indicated that he had peddled falsehood and had concocted the name of the mortuary attendant. Prof. Frimpong Boateng was shocked when he was contacted on the matter. He said he had not given any number of the Korle-Bu head of mortuary to anybody. When the paper asked him the name of the head of mortuary, he gave the name as Mr. Dankyi and not Julius Akatsi as Kwame Larbi claimed. Prof. Frimpong Boateng then went on to give the number of Mr. Dankyi to the paper. "I have not had any call from anybody neither do we have any attendant called Mr. Julius Akatsi please", Mr. Dankyi, head of mortuary, reiterated in an interview. The paper said while it was busily checking the facts, Kwame Larbi quickly rang Prof. Frimpong Boateng, trying to coax him into accepting that he had called him on the matter. Professor Frimpong Boateng was quick to expose him as fake, telling him (Larbi) that he does not know him. "His story is atrocious. I don't know this guy and I have warned him, Nana Addo is a member of the NPP and I would not do anything to destroy him. I have never given any telephone number to him as he is claiming", the Professor said. The Crusading GUIDE said it called Kwame Larbi and told him to give the day and time he called Prof. Frimpong Boateng so that it could cross-check at Ghana Telecom. He promised to do that but has never rung the paper since then. When Kwame Larbi (alias Oxygen) was asked whether he had evidence of his conversation, he said no. According to the paper, London-based Hot FM was the first target of this false rumour as its morning show host Ernest Owusu Bempah, was bombarded with a series of calls and text messages. The text messages and anonymous phone calls urged the Journalist to probe further into the allegation but his probe drew a blank. Bempah told The Crusading GUIDE that he decided to meet the top shots of the NPP to verify the matter since the rumour was spreading fast. He told the paper that his investigation drew a blank after Nana Addo himself had dismissed the rumour, challenging the people to come out and prove it. Source: The Crusading Guide
