Papa Owusu Ankoma, one of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Aspirants said on Tuesday that when elected as the flag bearer of the party he would ensure greater economic empowerment for Ghanaians, especially the youth who form the majority.
The Presidential aspirant, who was briefing the Volta Regional press in Ho about the need for the NPP delegates to the impending National Congress to elect him as the flag bearer said he would pursue an uncompromising policy of decentralization to the grassroots as a spur to greater national development.
Papa Owusu Ankoma stated that he would develop a human resource need-driven policy to serve as a catalyst for accelerated development of the nation, adding that he would transform agriculture and enhance food security.
He said programmes to improve small scale agro processing and storage of agriculture products would be pursued and farmers encouraged to access credits to increase production.
Papa Owusu Ankomah said he would put in place mechanisms to check corruption and focus on safety of the individual and the state.
The presidential aspirant said he would build a stronger and more cohesive party to empower its members, irrespective of their social class or age and gender to take all opportunities available to them.
The opportunities include skill training and development, entrepreneurship training, employment placement and political education.
Papa Owusu Ankomah further stated that he would build a financially sound party at the Constituency, Regional and National levels to ensure the execution of the party's political agenda.
"I will enhance the relationship between the Party and the Government through active presidential leadership and involvement; with these covenant and my well-known experience I feel I am the best person to be elected as the flagbearer of the party," he stated.
