Hearts trounce Wa All Stars

Accra Hearts of Oak SC on Sunday recorded a 3-0 win over Wa All Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium in the their 23rd week Glo Premier League game. Hearts who came into the game with a strong conviction of securing another win after their away goal victory over Aduana Stars sold out a well rehearsed game with swift inter-positional changes. Their strategy thus yielded the desired results, when Uriah Asante was brought down in the vital area for referee Reginald Lathbridge to point to the penalty spot. Midfield dynamo Laryea Kingson easily converted the kick in the 35th minute to send the Phobian fraternity into wild jubilation. Hearts continued with their onslaught on the visitors and rightly increased their goal tally just at the stroke of the first half with a perfect connection of Owusu Sefa’s cross by substitute James Abban. Wa All Stars resumed the second half with a lot of determination to make amends with much of the efforts seen in Joshua Otoo, Joshua Tinjani, Frank Sarfo Gyamfi and Major Baah Tetteh who stringed their passes together but failing to get pass the Hearts solid defence. The efforts of the visitors were however limited as they failed to penetrate the Hearts defence with a command of the midfield. All Stars pursued Hearts in search of some redemption as the Phobians decided to adopt a relaxed approach and allowed All Stars to dominate proceedings. However as the game was coasting to an end, a swift break by the Phobians saw them rewarded with a throw in which was executed by Bobbie Ansah to fall on the path of Alhassan Ali around the goal area of the visitors. Ali sent a well measured cross which was beautifully connected by Sadat Karim in the 87th minute with a non-drop shot to put the game beyond All Stars to an applause from the fans. Substitute Alex Tawiah was gifted an opportunity to fetch at least a consolation for All Stars but he surprisingly shot off target in the 89th minute. With a secured victory, Hearts reduced the tempo of the game to an entertaining one as they stringed their passes to the admiration of the fans as they pushed the game to the end amid songs of praise from expectant Phobian supporters.
