A heartless father who subjected his two little children to severe torture for stealing two pieces of fried fish has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment with hard labour by the Juaso Circuit Court.
Kwadwo Nornituo pleaded guilty to the charge of causing unlawful harm.
Police Detective Inspector Emmanuel Kobla Atatsi told the court presided over by Justice S.K. Sarpong Appiah that the victims aged eight and six years, are the biological children of the convict from a previous marriage.
The children lived in a home Nornituo had made with his new wife, Mary Tweneboah, at Brantuokrom near Agogo.
On March 10, this year, the step mother fried some fish, kept them in her room and left for the farm.
When she returned, she discovered that two pieces of the fish were missing and questioned the little boys who confessed to eating them.
Nornituo got angry on hearing this, grabbed them and held their right hands into fire.
Not satisfied, he also burnt their lips.
The children could not stand the excruciating pain as they cried out loudly to attract some people in the neighbourhood to the house.
The prosecution said they were eventually rescued by members of the unit committee.
Nornituo was arrested and handed over to the Police.
