Ketu-South NPP elects 2008 parliamentary candidate

A 54-year-old Canadian-based social worker, Mr. Peterson Miradje was elected the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Ketu-South constituency for the 2008 General Elections at the party's primaries on Tuesday at Aflao. Mr. Miradje, polled 51 votes to beat Mr. Godwin Nkuawu, 44, a businessman, who had 49 votes, in the balloting that went into a second round. Mr. Miradje had 41 votes whilst Mr. Nkuawu had 33 votes in the first polls. Mr. Thomas Seshie, Volta Regional Director of the Non-Formal Education Division of the Ghana Education Service, who placed third with 27 votes and Mr. Kwaku Banson, a teacher who had no vote, did not take part in the second balloting. Mr. Miradje called on NPP supporters to unite and work hard to enable the party wrest the seat from the National Democratic Congress Party in the 2008 Elections. Source: GNA
