Black Stars coach Claude LE Roy, Former France Captain Marcel Desailly and former European Footballer of the year George Oppon Weah have been visiting the Metro TV MTN soccer academy to interact and assist in the development of the 14 housemates.
The visit of the stars is part of the academy’s mentoring sessions designed to offer the fourteen (14) housemates opportunities to quiz and be mentored by African and international soccer icons.
Black Stars Coach Claude Leroy encouraged the housemates to stay focussed and committed as it is the key to every footballer’s success.
Former captain and Presidential candidate of Liberia George Weah asked the housemates to make the best of the opportunity.
Housemates also interacted with Ghana-born Former French International Marcel Desailly who shared experiences and best practices with them and told them of his regrets for not playing for the Black Stars.
The housemates were however defeated by a team of former stars in a
five-a-side soccer match later in the day. The stars team featured George Weah, Kwame Ayew, Anthony Baffoe, Tony Yeboah and Yaw Preko.
They beat the young housemates 3-1.
George Weah scored all three goals. He admitted that age had caught up with him and the other stars but was quick to mention that experience always pays.
The undaunted housemates have however promised a thrashing of the stars if they ever get a second chance to play them again.
The academy which seeks to unearth Ghana’s next soccer icon is expected to end in November with a winning housemate who would drive home a brand new Hyundai Atos with training opportunities with clubs in Europe.
