The Asante Mampong Government Hospital says all four students of the Asante Mampong Midwifery and Health Assistants School admitted following an armed robbery attack at their hostel Thursday dawn, have been discharged.
According to the Hospital Administrator, Dr. Ofori Amanfo, the students successfully responded to medical procedures after they were brought in a traumatized state.
The school was attacked Thursday dawn by armed robbers who stole mobile phones, Laptops, huge sums of money and other items belonging to 20 students who were subjected to other physical attacks.
The Police later got to the scene after the robbers had escaped with their booty.
Meanwhile, the Asante Mampong Police is yet to make any arrest, neither has it got information leading to the arrest of the robbers.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News on Friday, Municipal Police Commander DSP Abudulai Iddrisu said investigations were still ongoing while security had been beefed up in the school.
“Police patrols have been beefed up in-and-around the school as well as the hostel. The authorities have also been told what to do to ensure the safety of the students,” DSP Abdulai said.
Commenting on the robbery, the Head of the School, Madam Lydia Yamoah, has denied media reports alleging some of the victims were raped.
She said all the students "are fine and going about their normal school duties".
“I personally picked up the girls from the hospital; they are comfortable and doing very fine. Some of the students too have embarked on their practicals at various district hospitals. So far everything is fine.”
