Programmes Director and former Disk Jockey (DJ), Mark Okraku Mantey has advised Ghanaian DJs to choose easy names that will not confuse their fans.
According to him, the names they choose should go a long way to protect and strengthen their brands.
Mr Mantey using Hitz FM’s DJ Kelvin as an example said he sometimes gets the pronunciation wrong.
He also added that he faces the same problem when people mispronounce his name.
“Is it Kelvin or Kevin? Some people say Kelvin others say, Kevin. That is why when you are choosing names as a DJ or a brand, you don’t choose names that will confuse your fans.
"I have a similar problem, some people call me 'Bra Mike' instead of Mark,” he said.
Mr Mantey made the comments while speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM in connection with this year’s Hitz FM's Hottest DJ competition.
He advised all young DJs to take advantage of the opportunity the competition brings to make a name for themselves and endeavour to make it big in the art of ‘deejaying.
Hitz FM’s Hottest DJ since its inception in 2015 has discovered several talented DJs, including DJ Massive and DJ Kevin, who emerged winners in 2015 and 2016 editions respectively.
The competition aims at creating a platform for aspiring and practising Disc Jockeys (DJs) in the country to exhibit their talent and skills in the art.
Forms are currently on sale for a cool Gh50 at Hitz FM in Kokomlemle, Accra.
