The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Kwadwo Affram-Asiedu, has cautioned political and public office holders not to allow personality conflicts and feud to serve as a gridlock on their work especially in the districts. He urged District Chief Executives, Presiding Members, District Coordinating Directors and heads of department engaged in political bickering to either broker a truce and apply themselves diligently towards improving the lives of the people or give way for others willing to work. Mr Afram-Asiedu said he would not sit down unconcerned when personality clashes and political conflicts to grind the work of any assembly to a halt. Addressing separate meetings with heads of decentralized departments in the Kwahu South District at Mpraeso and the Kwahu West District at Nkawkaw, Mr Affram-Asiedu reminded them to keep politics out of the development agenda of the assemblies. The Regional Minister said he would make monitoring a priority area and stated his willingness to join hands with the people regardless of their political standing to ensure development to improve the lives of the people. He charged heads of the decentralized departments to follow laid-down procedures in seeking redress to their grievances as well as to show loyalty to the state in the discharge of their duties. Mr Affram-Asiedu pointed out that division was a disservice not only to the state but also to the people. He enumerated the achievements of the assemblies including the scoring of 72 percent coverage under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) but said the districts still faced problems including poor road network and the plunder of foodstuff by alien herdsmen. The DCEs requested for the creation of another district in addition to the Kwaku West because its current population of more than 161,000 made it difficult for effective administration. Mr Affram-Asiedu pointed out that he would show no bias for the Kwahu Districts on the assumption that he hailed from the area. Source: GNA
