Pastor John Kofi Effah of the Apostolic Church, Ghana, Kasoa East District branch, has urged Ghanaians to be of good cheer because the future is bright for the country.
Preaching the sermon to climax a three-day national convention of the women's wing of the Church at Kasoa in the Central Region on Sunday, he described the recent crude oil discoveries in the country as "God sent".
He said it marked the beginning of "good things to follow" since Ghanaians have faith in "God", who would not "leave his children who cry to him in their time of trouble alone".
Pastor Effah who was preaching on the theme, "Be of good cheer and be not afraid" attributed the wave of armed robberies, killings, rape and other social vices to the fact that the perpetuators had not allowed Jesus Christ to occupy the centre stage of their lives.
He advised parents and guardians to instill good moral training and values in their children and wards that would enable them to live true Christian lives.
Pastor Effah stated that God had a purpose for everyone and said that for children who are the future leaders of the country not to go astray, there was the need to protect them from acquiring habits that did not conform to Christian principles.
Deaconess, Rebecca Kabutey, District Women's Leader, said Ghanaians must be grateful to God for the peace that they were enjoying and asked them to pray for the congenial atmosphere to continue to enable the people to go about their activities without hindrance.
