The National President of the Presbyterian Men's Fellowship, Mr Asante Agyarko, has called on government to spare no effort to end the cycle of what he called "seemingly pre-meditated killings" in the country recently.
He said although measures had been taken to bring the incidence of armed robberies under control, the government should double its efforts to curtail the spate of killings.
Mr Agyarko was speaking at the 25th anniversary of the association at the Abetifi Presbyterian Secondary School in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region.
He noted that the killings could create a sense of insecurity, which could only be diffused through stringent measures to contain the situation.
Mr Agyarko said although the country was a religious one, nothing should be taken for granted and called for policies that would deter trouble fomenters from thinking that the country was a haven for their activities.
He called on all God-fearing people to pool their resources to help the government to solve the problem.
Delivering a paper on the relationship between traditional religions and the churches, the Omanhene of the Kwahu Traditional Area, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng, said African religion was in many ways synonymous with Christianity aimed at preserving the sanctity of man.
He said it was important for Christians to disabuse their minds of the belief that every concept associated with traditional African religion was fetish since it was a force that influenced both the economic, health and culture of people just like Christianity.
The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Kwadwo Affram-Asiedu, said it was important for religious movements to assist the government to implement policies to improve the lives of the people.
