The Tema Regional Police Command have impounded an Opel Astra, allegedly carrying 18 slabs of whitish substance suspected to be cocaine.
Assistant Commissioner of Police John Kudalor and Tema Regional Police Commander announced this at a press conference in Tema on Thursday.
He said following a tip-off, the police intercepted the vehicle parked near Meridian Hotel at dawn.
ACP Kudalor said the police had information on Wednesday that the vehicle was parked behind the Black Star Line building.
He said some police personnel detailed to the area laid ambush throughout the day but could not locate the vehicle.
ACP Kudalor said at dawn on Thursday, the police had another information that the vehicle had been abandoned near Meridian Hotel.
He said the police found the vehicle near the hotel, and during a search on it, a bag containing the substance and covered with a blanket was found in the booth.
ACP Kudalor said no arrests had been made, and police investigations were on-going to track down the suspects.
