Distinguished Building and Civil Contractors in the country will tonight be rewarded at first ever National Building and Civil Contractors awards which is aimed at promoting excellence and discouraging the delivery of shoddy works in the construction sector.
As government seeks to embark on massive infrastructural development in the coming year, the Association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors of Ghana (ABCECG) is also priming its members ahead of the roll out of the projects with the awards scheme.
The Association believes by instituting the awards, building and civil contractors will aspire to churn out quality works which will make them good candidates for major infrastructure projects in the country.
The overall winner for the maiden awards will receive a brand new pick up from Leyland Paints, the main sponsor of the awards.
According to the Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Association, Rockson Dogbegah, the prize of a Pick Up will endear more contractors to the awards which will be an annual event.
He said the night will not only be used to honour deserving contractors who have been selected through a competitive process but also as a platform for networking.
He mentioned that giants from other related businesses will be present and the event will also create the platform for business deals.
“You can see buildings springing up all over the place. It tells you there is business to be made, be you a supplier of building materials or a financial institution” he said.
He expressed his gratitude to Leyland Paints and other sponsors for their support, adding that anybody who is looking up to good business deals in 2012 cannot afford to miss the awards night at the Banquet Hall of the State House.
