The seven member board of the newly-established Petroleum Commission says notwithstanding the enormous challenges associated with its mandate, it is poised to achieve its ultimate goal.
The board which was sworn into office on Wednesday will take over the regulatory role of the upstream sector of the oil and gas sector.
This leaves the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, GNPC to play solely a commercial role at the upstream sector whilst the National Petroleum Authority, NPA would continue to be the regulator of the downstream sector.
Board Chairman, Professor Ivan Addae Mensah said the board is committed to work in the interest of the nation.
Notwithstanding the establishment of the Petroleum Commission, the Energy Ministry would continue to play its key role of formulating and implementing policies for the country’s energy sector.
Energy Minister, Dr Oteng Adjei who inaugurated the board charged members to ensure local content participation.
