Financial consultant, Dr. Sam Mensah has been appointed the new chair of the governing council of the Ghana Stock Exchange, GSE. He was appointed at the exchange’s Extraordinary General Meeting on Thursday, November 17, 2011.
He takes over from the Managing Director of CAL Bank, Frank Adu and is expected to chair the council for next two years. Dr. Mensah who is also the founder and principal of SEM Group Limited has been involved with the exchange since its inception in 1990 and has supported virtually every major activity by playing one key role or the other.
Dr. Sam Mensah has told JOY BUSINESS a major focus of his administration would be how to make the exchange more relevant to Ghanaians.
“ It is important to make the exchange more relevant to the country and this implies finding the ways of expanding its attraction to the local companies, supporting investors with the a more active secondary market in liquidity and generally upholding the general principles that create investor confidence” he concluded.
Other notable persons on the nine member council include; Director General of SSNIT, Dr. Frank Odoom, Managing Director of Ghana Commercial Bank, Simon Dornoo and Country Manager of EDC Stockbrokers, Micheal Cobblah.
