The corporate staff of the Head Office of Barclays Bank, Ghana, have marked their annual volunteerism campaign dubbed Make A Difference Day (MADD) at the Christ King of Kings Preparatory School in James Town, Accra.
The campaign is part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility with an objective of investing time and resources in solving problems confronting local communities.
MAD Day has been running since the inception of the bank’s operations in Ghana some 94 years ago and offers the bank the opportunity to take up projects to help under privileged communities.
Head of Business Banking at Barclays Bank, Isaac Tetteh explained to Myjoyonline.com that MAD Day “is an initiative which encourages colleagues throughout the Barclays group all over the world to invest their time and skills to the local community.”
Every year, he said, the bank sets aside a day all over the world where Barclays operates and the bank “interacts with people within the community and also do community work in which we are located.”
According to him, it is it the bank’s sole aim to make sure that they, as a business entity, make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged in society.
