Members of the Brong Ahafo Regional Council of the Industrial and Commercial Workers’ Union (ICU) on Wednesday resolved to ensure that there was peace and tranquility in the union.
They agreed they would observe constitutional meeting procedures where motions were tabled for discussion and acceptable decisions taken.
The members also agreed that unconstitutional acts, issuance of threats and ultimatums should be avoided since the ICU members were known to be intelligent, circumspect and always unperturbed.
The resolution by the union were contained in a press statement issued and signed by Albert Amoah Frimpong, Sunyani Branch Chairman, Joseph Ob-yang, Sunyani Branch Secretary, Alex Afriyie, Goaso Branch Chairman, Emelia Kusi, Goaso Branch Secretary.
Others are: Bernard Osei-Fokuo, Berekum Branch Vice Chairman, Emmanuel Offorih, Berekum Branch Secretary, Cecelia Opoku Boateng, Techiman Branch Chairperson and Victoria Bonyah, Techiman Branch Secretary.
The statement said the resolution was reached as a result of the union members’ inability to go to conferences as scheduled, which have also resulted in disturbances within the union.
The Union members urged the National Executive Committee (NEC) to impress upon the present constitutionally elected leadership to reconvene a NEC meeting to determine the way forward.
"Members should endeavour to protect and uplift the image of the union in order to continue to enjoy the prestigious relations with employers and the respect of the public," the statement added.
