Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko full back Harrison Afful and a CAF Champions winner wants a return to the Black Stars if given the opportunity when the time is right.
Afful's delightful goal on Saturday earned Tunisia's Esperance their second Champions League title at the second attempt while pushing the player's personal case for a return to the Black Stars after his long absence.
The Esperance left back was first choice in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers but has lost his place since. And with Ghana still unable to find a long term solution to that slot, Afful feels he will get his opportunity to compete for the position again.
He told Joy Sports: "All depends on the coach and Ghanaians. I am putting up good performances at Esperance. I am not out of the team forever. I still have a place in the team. I am just working hard and doing my best at my club so I hope God will open another door for me. At God's appointed time I will be called up again."
Afful is keen to put the goal behind him and focus on the bigger challenges ahead. "It means a lot to me and the club. It was very difficult game but God has seen us through. In such matches when you score everyone will feel great and happy. As at now I feel great and happy but I can’t feel that way forever. There are other things on my mind," he added.
