A circuit court at Tarkwa sentenced a 29-year-old fetish priest, Nana Tetteh, to 7 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a class five 15-year-old girl. He pleaded guilty.
Chief Inspector Florence Tawiah told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the complainant, George Johnfiah, a mechanic working with Golden Star Bogoso/ Prestea Limited lived with the victim and the accused resided at Ayipeys hotel in the same vicinity.
Inspector Tawiah said on May 25 around 1730 hours, the accused met the girl in Prestea and lured her to his room at Ayipeys hotel and forcibly had sex with her.
The prosecution said after the act Tetteh gave the victim 25 Ghana cedis and asked her off to her parents at Gyampre, a nearby village.
Insp. Tawiah said the complainant decided to searching for the girl and a witnesses in the case told the complainant that he spotted the accused and the victim heading towards the hotel.
The prosecution said that On May 26, two military officers arrested Tetteh and handed him over to the police.
Insp. Tawiah said the accused in his caution statement denied committing the offense and on May 30, the victim went to the Police station to assist in investigations.
The prosecution told the court that the girl told the police that the accused had sexually assaulted her, and when she was living the hotel she took Tetteh’s pair of shorts as evidence.
Insp. Tawiah said a medical form was issued to the victim to attend Prestea Government Hospital for examination and the report revealed that the victim was defiled.
