Jordan Ayew made an impact in the latter stages of the season after his winter move from Aston Villa to Swansea as the Welsh side avoided relegation.
The striker formed a formidable partnership with Spanish striker Fernando Llorente as Clement switched from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 diamond.
His work rate, speed and willingness to work off the ball created more room for the less mobile Spanish international who began to become a regular on the scoresheet.
And ahead of the new season, Paul Clement is banking on the Ghana international to play a more pivotal role for the club to ensure their continuous stay in the Premier League.
“We have a lot of good players and Jordan will have a lot of responsibilities this season,” He said
Swansea travel to the South Coast to face Southampton at the St. Mary’s with Ayew likely to start as Fernando Llorente is a major doubt for the game. If there is any stat the Spaniard supersedes Ayew with, then it is goals.
Ayew has not been the most prolific striker, an assertion the former Bayern and Real Madrid assistant agrees to.
“We did not get enough goals from him but we cannot question his attitude and what he has done in the game.”
This will be only the second full season for Ayew in the Premier League.
